Stain will apply and look very different on different species of woods, as well as a same piece of wood can take on different shades and tints, depending on the cut and grain of the individual piece. As such, variations in stain color are completely normal and your sample may not always reflect this as it is a smaller piece of wood.

We offer a limited warranty on all our pieces covering a period of 6 months that begins at the time of receipt of the furniture being delivered or picked up. If a manufacturing defect is discovered during this time, we ask you to promptly notify us immediately. We will then repair or replace what is defective in material or workmanship. Our limited warranty covers defects in materials and craftsmanship and does not include any damages to property or person caused by the misuse, lack of care, improper installation of your pieces or incorrect maintenance. Cracking or warping of any kind is not included in our warranty. Our warranty applies for indoor household use only and not intended for outdoor use.

Please note, any modifications done by the consumer or third parties will void this warranty. Any shipping costs are at the responsibility of the client to pay to or from our wood shop location in Calgary for work completed under this warranty.

At Out Of The Woodwork, we celebrate the timeless beauty and individuality of solid wood. Each piece is crafted from natural materials, and as such, no two are ever exactly alike. Variations in wood grain, tone, and texture are part of what make solid wood furniture so distinctive and enduring.

Caring for Your Solid Wood Furniture

Your solid wood furniture was thoughtfully crafted to be lived with, loved, and enjoyed for years to come. Because wood is a natural material, a little intentional care will help preserve its beauty, character, and integrity over time.

Cleaning & Everyday Care

For everyday cleaning, gently wipe your furniture with a soft, slightly damp cloth. When needed, a small amount of mild dish soap may be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, scrubbing pads, or anything that may damage or dull the finish.

Protecting Your Piece

Solid wood naturally responds to its surrounding environment. Changes in temperature and humidity can cause wood to subtly expand and contract, making a consistent indoor environment an important part of caring for your piece.

For the longevity of your furniture, we recommend:

  • Maintaining a temperature-controlled environment with relative humidity between 35–45%.
  • Using a humidifier or dehumidifier when necessary to help maintain consistent humidity throughout seasonal changes.
  • Keeping furniture away from heating and cooling vents, radiators, fireplaces, and other direct heat sources.
  • Avoiding placement directly in front of windows where your piece will receive prolonged, direct sunlight.
  • Protecting the surface from excessive moisture, heat, and dramatic changes in temperature whenever possible.

Made to Last

The natural qualities of solid wood are part of what make each piece so beautiful and unique. Subtle movement and variation are characteristic of genuine wood and part of the story it develops over time.

With thoughtful care, your furniture can remain a beautiful part of your home for many years—gathering stories, memories, and character along the way.
